Vintage Indian Embroidered Patchwork Wall Hanging Shisha Mirror Work Textile

Beautiful large vintage Indian textile wall hanging featuring an exceptionally colorful assortment of embroidered textile panels assembled into an intricate patchwork design.

The front is richly decorated with geometric and floral motifs in shades of pink, red, yellow, green, blue, purple, orange and white. Numerous small reflective mirror pieces, traditionally associated with shisha-style embroidery, are incorporated throughout the design along with decorative stitching, appliqué, sequins and applied textile trims.

The hanging appears to have been constructed from numerous individually embroidered textile fragments that were assembled and stitched onto a larger fabric backing. The reverse clearly shows the patchwork construction and hand stitching.

Because the individual textile sections may vary in age and origin, no specific tribal, regional or antique-period attribution is being made.
