The story
Elegant vintage Vendôme tiered drop clip-on earrings dating to approximately the late 1950s.
Each earring features a sparkling arrangement of faceted clear and aurora borealis glass crystals, ending in a large teardrop-shaped crystal. The articulated construction allows the crystals to move and catch the light, creating beautiful rainbow flashes.
The original paper tag remains attached and reads “Vendôme Couturier Jewelry.” The reverse of the tag shows the original $4.00 retail price and what appears to be style or inventory number 643/50.
The adjustable clip-on closures are marked “PAT. 2809501.” This Coro-owned adjustable-tension earring mechanism was patented in 1957, supporting a late-1950s or early-1960s date.
