The story
Antique German Amor Skin gold porcelain cosmetic container in the form of an Aladdin/genie lamp, dating to approximately the late 1920s–1930s.
Amor Skin was a German beauty preparation sold in distinctive lamp-shaped containers. Period advertising from 1929 describes the container as a “Pompeian lamp,” using the genie and magic-lamp theme to promote the product.
This example is finished in brilliant gold with a removable figural domed lid and white glazed interior reservoir.
The underside is marked “St. II / 68378 A / Germany.” Other surviving Amor Skin lamp containers have been documented with similar “St. II” markings.
